![]() ![]() In a sea of endless inanity of teleseryes and boring afternoon shows. All I know, and all I feel from my gut is this: Never mind some scenes that would make the MTRCB squeal with (dis)gusto. Airing this title in Hero TV may have helped introduce this show to the cabled viewer, but Free TV needs an intellectual anime to boost its profile. That is why I am pushing the network who holds the rights to this Anime, ABS-CBN, to air this on Free TV and in Native HD. You have to understand the capacities of the entire story, the characters and the serial plots it offers in every episode. True, it is a feast for the eyes and for the mind, but with an intellectual heft as heavy as the Earth Engine itself, you cannot discount the fact that Captain Earth needs understanding for itself to be understood. Sure, people riled up the story and the mecha design and even the characters, but you cannot please everybody. The reviews may be tepid, but in essence, Captain Earth lived to the notion that it is an anime not for everyone’s enjoyment. Overall, the user says that the show feels “powerful” at times and “calming” on other times. User “9625RuriNoDanna” meanwhile says that the story is solid, plus the action scenes well done to the details, characters are easy to understand and maintained the same personality on the whole series. It left a good taste in my mouth, and for all it’s mediocre moments, those sprinkled moments of brilliance made up for it. User “KorStonesword” states that although the series had a strong pilot, the story went downhill on the succeeding weeks with Episode 9 as the only “good” episode after them, but with all of its misgivings, he says that the show, despite of its errors: People at MAL are reviewing Captain Earth like “what the eff is this anime and what the hell BONES is doing?”.īut in a sea of negatives, there’s always a bottle of positives, and in the reviews section, I found two reviews which agree to my position. That’s why when I finally read ’s reviews of Captain Earth, I now fully realize why this anime became underrated.įrom reasons saying that “the story had gone out of control”, to harsher reviews like being “a train wreck”. I don’t usually read reviews of the anime shows that I watch during the series’ run, and if I do catch some, I always do it right after the series. That’s why I named my new phone “Daichi” and the wallpaper after the lead character, whose convictions, like Kousei Arima of “Your Lie in April”, Haruto Tokishima of “Valvrave the Liberator”, and Kira Yamato of “Gundam SEED”, share with me. There’s action, yes, there’s light moments, yes, and there’s drama. (And I put that without any tinge of sarcasm in my words). If there’s any show that would be the salvation of Philippine television, then this title is going to be it. Romantic entanglements aside, this series also gives you that intellectual heft that “classy viewers” wanted to watch. Top Left: Akari Yomatsuri, Bottom Left: Teppei Arashi, Top Right : Daichi Manatsu, Bottom Right: Hana Mutouĭaichi Manatsu, Teppei Arashi, Hana Mutou and Akari Yomatsuri are the key characters of the series, and yes, you bet even the love teams like KathNiel, JaDine, LizQuen or even AlDub would pale in comparison with the Daichi-Hana and Teppei-Akari romance. To think, People won’t catch up with the story of Captain Earth, most likely because they won’t be swayed by the ideas of “designer children”, “Livlaster”, “Neoteny” and all other words uttered in the series. ![]() ![]() Captain Earth’s story is an idea worth its weight in gold. I beg to differ, Ideas come 25 centavos a dozen. My acquaintance from Cagayan De Oro, who I met at an event and who first told me about why this show had become underrated, said that the main concern why Captain Earth came into this distinction was the mecha, which, as we all know, is maybe one reason why this anime didn’t catch up with the fandom, because, so it seems, the mecha is the only important thing in this series. That is why I am still bewildered by the fact that this anime is underrated, to the point that this show has a fickle fandom. I mean the story, the character development, the mecha, I guess everything about this title. I re-watched Captain Earth during the New Year’s break, and yes, the anime still impresses me. ![]()
